2.048V shunt reference with ±0.2% initial accuracy
The MAX6007AEUR+T is a precision shunt voltage reference from Analog Devices that delivers a fixed 2.048V output with ±0.2% initial tolerance. That tolerance is tight enough to serve as the reference for a 12-bit successive-approximation ADC without external trimming — the reference error stays under half an LSB at 12 bits. The shunt topology means it behaves like a two-terminal Zener diode: you bias it through a single resistor from a higher supply rail, and the device regulates the voltage across itself. No load-regulation spec is needed because the shunt current varies automatically with the load.
Temperature drift and noise floor
Temperature coefficient is 30ppm/°C typical. Cathode current is just 1 µA minimum, so the reference draws almost nothing from the bias resistor. In a battery-powered sensor node that sleeps most of the time, the 1 µA shunt current is negligible compared to the microcontroller's sleep-mode draw.
Package and rework reality
The 2 mA maximum output current limits the reference to driving the high-impedance input of an ADC or DAC reference buffer. If the load draws more than 2 mA, the shunt drops out of regulation — the bias resistor must be sized so the total current through the device stays under 2 mA at all times.
