What this hot swap controller does and where it fits
Key protection features include an auto-retry fault timeout, an undervoltage lockout (UVLO) threshold, and programmable circuit-breaker, slew-rate, and turn-on voltage settings. The supply current draw is 1.5 mA typical. The controller is rated over the -40°C to 85°C industrial temperature range, making it suitable for motor drives, base-station line cards, and factory-automation I/O modules that see temperature swings. The package is a 10-pin TFSOP/MSOP (3.00 mm body width) with a 0.118" lead pitch, supplied in Tube form. The supplier device package is designated 10-uMAX/uSOP. Mounting is surface-mount only.
No internal switch — plan for the external FET
The MAX5924DEUB+ has no internal switch, so the BOM must include an external N-channel MOSFET. The controller's gate drive and fault-timing circuits are designed around an external pass element.
Lifecycle and compliance
It is ROHS3 compliant.
