Dual 50kΩ digital pot with 1024-tap resolution
The MAX5495ETE+ is a dual-channel, 1024-tap digital potentiometer from Analog Devices with a linear taper and 50kΩ end-to-end resistance. Each of the two independent channels provides 1024 wiper positions, giving 0.05% resolution per step — fine enough for precision voltage divider or programmable gain applications where a mechanical trim pot would drift or wear out. The wiper resistance is 50Ω typical, and the temperature coefficient is 35 ppm/°C — the resistance stays within 0.35% over a 100°C swing, so the set point doesn't walk with the enclosure temperature.
Non-volatile memory and SPI interface
The wiper position is stored in non-volatile memory, so on power-up the pot returns to the last programmed setting without a microcontroller re-initialization step. This matters in a calibration-hold application — the trim value survives a power cycle. Communication is over a standard SPI interface, which daisy-chains cleanly with other SPI peripherals on the same bus.
16-TQFN package and board integration
The ±25% tolerance on the end-to-end resistance means the absolute resistance can vary from 37.5kΩ to 62.5kΩ across devices — the ratio accuracy between the two channels is tighter, but a design relying on the absolute R value needs a calibration step or a ratiometric architecture.
