1024-tap linear taper — what the resolution means
The MAX5484ETE+: This is a 50 kΩ digital potentiometer with 1024 wiper tap positions and a linear taper — each step adjusts the resistance by roughly 48.8 Ω, giving fine-grained analog control for bias trimming, volume control, or programmable gain stages. The non-volatile memory stores the wiper setting on power-down, so the part powers up at the last programmed position without needing a microcontroller to re-initialize it after every cycle.
Interface and package integration
Controlled via a standard SPI interface or an up/down (U/D, INC, CS) protocol — the up/down mode uses only three digital lines, freeing GPIO on a small microcontroller.
Analog Devices confirms ROHS3 compliance — no RoHS exemption declarations needed for EU-market BOMs.
