8-bit DAC with voltage or current output
The MAX5480ACEE+ is an 8-bit digital-to-analog converter from Analog Devices, offering either voltage or current output (unbuffered) through a parallel data interface. Its R-2R ladder architecture delivers a 500 ns settling time to ±½ LSB, making it suitable for control loops and waveform generation where update rate matters.
Single 5V supply and external reference
Both the analog and digital supply rails are tied to a single 5 V supply, simplifying the power tree in mixed-signal designs. The reference input is external, so the full-scale output range tracks the reference voltage the system provides. The differential output option allows the DAC to drive balanced loads or feed a differential-input stage directly, preserving signal swing in noisy environments. Integral nonlinearity is ±0.5 LSB max, and differential nonlinearity is ±1 LSB max, ensuring monotonicity across the 8-bit range without missing codes.
16-QSOP surface-mount package
Housed in a 16-pin QSOP (3.90 mm body width), the MAX5480ACEE+ occupies a compact footprint on the PCB. The surface-mount package is supplied in tube format, which suits hand-assembly or low-volume production without reel tooling.
