256-tap I²C digital pot for precision voltage division
The MAX5419NETA+ is a single-channel 256-tap digital potentiometer from Analog Devices, configured as a potentiometer with a linear taper and a total end-to-end resistance of 200 kΩ. It communicates over an I²C interface and stores the wiper position in non-volatile memory, so the setting persists after power cycling — no need to re-initialize the pot on every power-up.
Supply, temperature, and drift — staying inside the operating window
The typical temperature coefficient is 35 ppm/°C, which means the 200 kΩ end-to-end resistance drifts about 7 Ω per °C — negligible for most divider or trim applications, but worth budgeting if the pot sets a precision threshold across a 50°C delta. Wiper resistance is 325 Ω typical — this adds a small series offset between the wiper terminal and the internal tap point. In a voltage-divider configuration the offset is usually irrelevant; in a variable-gain circuit it shifts the minimum gain slightly.
Package and board integration
The selectable-address feature lets multiple MAX5419 devices share the same I²C bus — set each address via the logic input to avoid bus contention.
