10-bit voltage-output DAC with SPI interface
The MAX5355CUA+ is a single-channel, 10-bit digital-to-analog converter with a voltage-buffered output, built on an R-2R ladder architecture. It communicates over an SPI data interface, settling to within 1 LSB in 10 µs typical. An external voltage reference sets the output span.
Linearity and accuracy for the BOM
Integral non-linearity (INL) and differential non-linearity (DNL) are both specified at ±1 LSB maximum. This means the DAC's output stays within one least-significant bit of the ideal transfer function across all codes — a tight spec for open-loop trimming or calibration DAC applications where monotonicity matters. The 10 µs settling time to 1 LSB defines the update rate ceiling. For a closed-loop control loop updating at 50 kHz, the DAC has margin; at 100 kHz the settling time consumes the entire sample window, leaving no headroom for the downstream amplifier to respond.
The 8-uMAX footprint is shared with other single-channel DACs in the MAX53xx family, easing board-level cross-layout. For extended-temperature designs, the industrial-grade suffix variant should be specified.
