Dual 12-bit DAC with buffered voltage output
The MAX5322EAI+ is a dual 12-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with a voltage-buffered output, built on an R-2R ladder architecture. It provides two independent DAC channels in a single 28-SSOP package, each settling to 12-bit accuracy within 10 µs (typical). The digital interface is SPI, allowing direct connection to microcontrollers or DSPs with minimal pin count.
Accuracy and settling for control loops
Integral and differential nonlinearity are both specified at ±1 LSB maximum — this means every code step is guaranteed monotonic and within one least-significant-bit of the ideal transfer function. For a 12-bit DAC with a 10 V reference, that is roughly ±2.44 mV of absolute error at any code. The 10 µs settling time to 0.5 LSB makes this DAC suitable for closed-loop control systems where the update rate is below 100 kHz per channel — think servo valve drivers, programmable voltage sources, or automated test equipment channel cards.
