What this DAC is and where it fits
The Maxim MAX530BCAG+ is a single-channel 12-bit digital-to-analog converter with a voltage-buffered output and an R-2R ladder architecture. It accepts a parallel digital word and delivers a settled analog voltage in 25 µs typical. The part runs on dual ±5 V analog rails and a separate 5 V digital supply, so it fits systems where the analog section already has a split supply — think bench instrumentation, ATE pin electronics, or industrial process-control output modules that need a clean, monotonic voltage setpoint.
R-2R architecture and monotonicity
The R-2R ladder is inherently monotonic — every increase in the digital code produces a positive or zero output step. The MAX530BCAG+ specifies ±1 LSB max DNL, so no missing codes across the 12-bit range.
Supply rails and reference
This DAC accepts either an external reference or uses its own internal reference. The analog supply is ±5 V, which sets the output swing near the rails.
Package and temperature grade
Housed in a 24-pin SSOP (5.3 mm body width), the MAX530BCAG+ is a surface-mount part suited for compact PCBs. The operating temperature range is 0°C to 70°C — commercial grade. That limits it to controlled indoor environments: benchtop gear, lab instruments, office equipment, or factory-floor cabinets with climate control. Not rated for the engine bay, a freezing warehouse, or outdoor telecom enclosures.
Sourcing and lifecycle
The MAX530BCAG+ carries an Active lifecycle status from Maxim (now part of Analog Devices). It is a current-production part, so no last-time-buy pressure. We source it through independent distribution and quote it to order against an RFQ. ROHS3 compliant.
