10-bit DAC in an 8-pin MSOP footprint
The MAX5304EUA+T is a single-channel, 10-bit digital-to-analog converter with a voltage-buffered output, built on an R-2R ladder architecture. The part settles to within 1/2 LSB in 10 µs typical, which sets the update rate ceiling for the control loop or waveform generation it serves. The SPI data interface keeps the digital pin count low — three wires plus the chip-select line — so it integrates cleanly on a mixed-signal bus shared with ADCs or other converters.
Linearity budget and reference dependency
Integral nonlinearity is ±4 LSB maximum, and differential nonlinearity is ±1 LSB maximum. For a 10-bit converter with a 5 V reference, ±4 LSB INL translates to a worst-case endpoint error of about 19.5 mV — acceptable for many set-point and trim applications, but worth checking against the system accuracy budget if the DAC output feeds a precision comparator or a closed-loop controller. The reference is external, so the absolute output accuracy depends on the reference voltage stability and temperature drift. Both analog and digital supply rails are 5 V nominal — a single 5 V rail powers the converter, simplifying the power tree. The buffered output can source or sink current directly without an external op-amp for moderate loads.
Active production and compliance status
The part is offered in Tape & Reel (TR) and Cut Tape (CT) packaging options, suitable for both volume assembly and prototype runs. Surface-mount assembly uses standard reflow profiles for the 8-MSOP / 8-uMAX body.
