Dual 8-bit DAC with buffered voltage output
The MAX522ESA+ from Analog Devices is a dual 8-bit digital-to-analog converter with voltage-buffered outputs built on an R-2R ladder architecture. It converts serial SPI data into two independent analog voltages, each settling within 70 µs typical.
Linearity and interface
Integral nonlinearity is ±1.5 LSB maximum, differential nonlinearity ±1 LSB maximum — these figures define the DAC's transfer accuracy and monotonicity across the 8-bit output range. An external voltage reference sets the full-scale span. The SPI-compatible serial interface uses a standard 3-wire protocol, keeping the digital pin count low. No differential output is available; the two channels are single-ended, buffered voltage outputs.
Package and lifecycle
Supplied in tube — store the reels dry if transferring to tape-and-reel for automated pick-and-place.
