14-bit DAC with R-2R core and SPI interface
The MAX5170AEEE+ is a 14-bit digital-to-analog converter with a voltage-buffered output, built around an R-2R ladder architecture. It communicates over a standard SPI data interface, making it a straightforward drop-in for any processor with a spare SPI port.
Settling time and linearity — what they mean on the bench
Typical settling time is 18 µs to within 1 LSB for a full-scale step. Integral and differential nonlinearity are both ±1 LSB maximum. For a 14-bit converter with a 5 V reference, that means the output voltage at any code is within about 305 µV of the ideal straight line — tight enough for a precision trim or a calibration DAC without software correction.
Package, supply rails, and temperature range
The part comes in a 16-lead QSOP (the EEE+ suffix tells you it is the QSOP variant, not the wider SSOP). The external reference input means you set the full-scale voltage with whatever precision reference your accuracy budget demands.
