12-bit DAC with a voltage-buffered output and a built-in reference
The MAX5121BEEE+ is a 12-bit digital-to-analog converter from Analog Devices that delivers a voltage-buffered output using an R-2R ladder architecture. It integrates both an internal reference and a SPI data interface, so you can drop it into an analog output stage without adding external reference or buffer components. Settling time is 20 µs typical, which means the output reaches its final value within 0.5 LSB in that window — useful for updating a control voltage at rates up to roughly 50 kHz without waiting for the rail to stabilize.
Accuracy and temperature range for field-installed gear
Integral non-linearity is ±2 LSB maximum, and differential non-linearity is ±1 LSB maximum — these numbers set the worst-case error from the ideal transfer curve. For a 12-bit DAC with a 3.3 V reference, ±2 LSB INL translates to about ±1.6 mV of absolute error at the output.
Package and board-fit for a tight layout
The surface-mount package is suited for reflow assembly without a hot-air station. Supplied in a Tube — not tape-and-reel — so if you are ordering small quantities for a prototype run or a repair kit, you get loose devices that are easy to handle at the bench without depopulating a reel.
