8-bit, 3-channel, voltage-out DAC — the BOM-fit decision
The MAX5101AEUE+ is an 8-bit, 3-channel voltage-output DAC with a parallel interface and internal reference — a fit for multi-channel analog output stages where per-channel cost and board area are the constraints, not 12-bit resolution. Settling to within ±1 LSB takes 6 µs typical — at 8 bits that means a full-scale step settles in under one 150 kHz period, fast enough for a closed-loop valve or motor-current setpoint that updates at a few tens of kilohertz. The ±1 LSB max INL and DNL guarantee monotonicity across all 256 codes — no missing codes, so the output never jumps backwards on a rising digital word. That matters for servo loops where a non-monotonic DAC causes a control reversal.
ROHS3 compliant — the exemption-free status means the part ships without any of the restricted substances, and there is no future compliance-driven obsolescence risk tied to a sunsetting exemption.
