Switching speed and leakage — timing and off-state behaviour
Turn-on time is 5 µs max, turn-off is 3.5 µs max. That's fast enough for relay-replacement and channel-switching applications at audio and low-frequency analog rates, but not for RF envelope switching or high-speed multiplexing. Off-state leakage current is max 1 µA per channel, and off-state capacitance is 9 pF — both low enough to keep the off channel from loading the bus in a multiplexed analog system. The 1 µA leakage figure matters when summing many off-channels on a common output node: sixteen channels at 1 µA each means 16 µA worst-case leakage into the output.
Temperature grade and environment
Rated for -40°C to 85°C ambient, this switch is specified for industrial environments — outdoor telecom cabinets, factory-floor sensor multiplexing, engine-bay test equipment, and HVAC control panels. The 48-LQFP package with 7x7 mm body is a standard surface-mount footprint, reflow-compatible with lead-free profiles. The part is ROHS3 compliant.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
The MAX4968AECM+ carries an active lifecycle status from Maxim Integrated. This is a current-production part, not a last-time-buy or NRND item. No official successor or second-source alternate is listed — the part is sole-sourced from Maxim.
