What this switch does in the signal path
The MAX4741ELA+T is a dual single-pole single-throw normally-open (SPST-NO) analog switch from Maxim Integrated, built for low-voltage signal routing where every milliohm matters. Each of its two independent switches presents a maximum on-resistance of 800mOhm, with channel-to-channel matching held to 50mOhm — tight enough to keep gain errors matched in a stereo audio path or a precision ADC input mux. The 100MHz -3dB bandwidth means it passes high-speed digital or video signals cleanly, and the -110dB crosstalk at 1MHz tells you the two channels stay isolated even when switching fast. Charge injection is rated at 28pC, low enough that sample-and-hold droop stays manageable in most acquisition front-ends.
Supply rails and logic compatibility
Runs from a single supply between 1.6V and 3.6V, which means it works directly on a 1.8V logic rail or a 3.3V system supply without a separate regulator. The switch turns on and off fast — 24ns typical turn-on, 16ns turn-off — so it can handle multiplexed data lines or fast gain switching without adding timing headaches. Off-state leakage is max 1nA, so it won't load down a high-impedance node when the channel is open.
Package and board fit
Housed in an 8-WFDFN package (supplier device package 8-µDFN, 2x2mm), this is a tiny surface-mount part — about the size of a grain of rice. The leads are underneath, so the board footprint needs a proper solder-paste stencil and a reflow profile for the DFN. No exposed pad to worry about, which simplifies routing. The -40°C to +85°C temperature range covers industrial environments, telecom cabinets, and outdoor equipment that doesn't see engine-bay heat.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Marked as Active in the lifecycle record and ROHS3 compliant.
