Single 8:1 analog multiplexer in a 16-SOIC
The Maxim Integrated MAX4708ESE+T is a single-pole 8:1 analog multiplexer in a 16-SOIC package. One package routes one of eight analog inputs to a common output, controlled by three address lines and an enable. The 400 ohm max on-resistance with 15 ohm channel-to-channel matching keeps signal attenuation consistent across all channels — important when the mux feeds a single ADC or instrumentation amplifier and you need the same voltage divider on every path.
Switching speed and leakage
Turn-on time is 275 ns max, turn-off 200 ns max. That is fast enough to scan eight channels in a few microseconds for a data-acquisition front end, but not intended for RF or video switching where sub-nanosecond edges are needed. Off-channel leakage is 500 pA max, and channel capacitance is 10 pF (source off) and 19 pF (drain off) — both low enough that the mux does not load the analog source significantly in most sensor and signal-conditioning circuits.
Temperature range and package
Rated for -40°C to 85°C ambient. The 16-SOIC body is 3.90 mm wide. The Tape & Reel option feeds pick-and-place machines; Cut Tape is also listed.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Listed as active with no end-of-life notice. That means no last-time-buy clock ticking for new designs, and no forced migration to a replacement part mid-production. The part is ROHS3 compliant. For BOM planning, this is a stable line item — no supply-chain surprises from an imminent discontinuation.
