SPST-NC analog switch, 3 Ohm Ron, 190 MHz bandwidth
The MAX4706EXK+T is a single-pole single-throw normally-closed (SPST-NC) analog switch from Analog Devices, designed for signal routing in precision analog and data-acquisition chains. The 3 Ohm maximum on-resistance keeps insertion loss low in series-switch applications, while the 190 MHz -3dB bandwidth preserves signal integrity for video, RF envelope, or high-speed ADC front-end paths. The NC configuration means the switch conducts when the control pin is low — a fail-safe state that keeps the signal path closed at power-up or under a floating control input.
Switching dynamics and signal-chain fit
Turn-on time is 20 ns max, turn-off 15 ns max, giving a combined switching window under 35 ns — fast enough for multiplexed data-acquisition systems scanning at 10+ MSPS per channel. Charge injection is 5 pC typical, a figure that sets the pedestal error in sample-and-hold stages; for a 10 pF hold capacitor, 5 pC translates to a 500 mV glitch, so the downstream ADC must settle within its acquisition window. Off-state leakage is 1 nA max, and off-capacitance is 17 pF. The leakage floor suits high-impedance sensor interfaces (10 MOhm source impedance sees under 10 mV offset from leakage), while the off-capacitance limits isolation above roughly 50 MHz — a consideration for RF multiplexing.
