Quad SPST-NO switch for precision analog signal routing
The MAX4678EUE+ packs four independent SPST-NO (1:1) switch channels in a 16-TSSOP package, each rated for single-supply operation from 2.7V to 11V or dual supplies from ±2.7V to ±5.5V. Maximum on-resistance is 1.6Ω, with channel-to-channel matching held to 200mΩ — tight enough that gain errors in a multiplexed ADC front-end stay below one LSB for a 12-bit system with a 10kΩ source impedance. Switching times are 350ns (on) and 150ns (off) maximum, supporting sample rates into the low-MHz range without introducing aperture distortion.
Signal integrity: crosstalk, bandwidth, and charge injection
Crosstalk between channels is -84dB at 1MHz — better than -80dB typical for this switch class, meaning a 10Vpp signal on one channel couples less than 630µVpp into an adjacent off channel at that frequency. The -3dB bandwidth of 66MHz supports video and high-speed data paths up to composite video rates; the 85pF channel capacitance (both CS(off) and CD(off)) sets the RC roll-off with the source resistance. Charge injection is 85pC typical — a 10pF hold capacitor sees a 8.5mV glitch on switching, which settles within the 150ns turn-off time; for sample-and-hold circuits, this sets the pedestal error floor.
Supply flexibility and leakage performance
Single-supply operation from 2.7V to 11V covers 3.3V and 5V logic rails; dual ±5V supplies allow bipolar signal swing up to the supply rails without clipping.
Supplied in tube format (standard 16-TSSOP); the surface-mount footprint is shared with many 16-pin TSSOP analog switches, simplifying board layout reuse.
