What this switch is for
The MAX4658ESA+ is a single-pole single-throw normally-open analog switch from Analog Devices (formerly Maxim Integrated). It switches one signal path on or off with a 10 Ohm max on-resistance, making it a clean fit for routing audio, low-frequency analog signals, or control voltages in industrial and instrumentation gear. The 210MHz -3dB bandwidth keeps the signal clean well into the video range, so it works for composite video or high-speed data muxing too.
Supply rails and temperature range
Runs off a single supply from 9V up to 40V, or a dual supply of ±4.5V to ±20V. That covers common industrial rails like 12V, 24V, and ±15V audio supplies. The -40°C to 85°C operating range fits most factory-floor and outdoor telecom enclosures without needing a mil-spec part.
Switching speed and charge injection
Turn-on time is 200ns max, turn-off is 100ns max — fast enough for most analog multiplexing and signal routing tasks. Charge injection is 23pC typical, which is low enough that a sample-and-hold or ADC input won't see a big glitch when the switch toggles. Off-leakage is 1nA max, so high-impedance sensor signals won't drift when the channel is deselected.
Package and mounting
Comes in an 8-pin SOIC package (0.154" body width, 3.90mm). Surface-mount only — no through-hole option. The tube shipping medium is fine for bench builds, but if you are loading pick-and-place machines, check whether the reel option is available from your supplier.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Marked as Active on the lifecycle record, so no end-of-life watch needed for new designs. ROHS3 compliant.
