Active dual SP4T mux with 10Ω Ron and -96dB crosstalk
The MAX4618CUE+T from Analog Devices packs two independent SP4T switches into a single 16-TSSOP package, each channel acting as a 4:1 multiplexer or demultiplexer. With a maximum on-resistance of 10Ω and channel-to-channel matching within 200mΩ, it handles precision analog signals without introducing gain errors or offset between paths. Crosstalk is specified at -96dB at 100kHz, meaning a signal on one active channel couples into an off channel at less than 16 µV per volt of signal — important for audio crosspoint switches or multi-channel data acquisition where channel bleed would corrupt measurements. Switching times of 15 ns (on) and 10 ns (off) allow fast channel selection in multiplexed ADC front-ends or RF signal routing without adding latency that would limit the sample rate.
Supply range and charge injection for signal integrity
The charge injection is just 3pC — when the switch toggles, the injected charge translates to a voltage glitch across the load capacitance; at 10pF load, that's roughly 300 µV of disturbance, which is negligible for most 12-bit ADC applications. Off-leakage current is a maximum of 1nA at 25°C, rising with temperature but staying below 10nA at 70°C. In a high-impedance sensor interface with a 1MΩ source, 1nA leakage creates only 1mV of offset error — well within the noise floor of a 10-bit system. Channel capacitance measures 5pF (source off) and 15pF (drain off). The larger drain capacitance dominates the bandwidth when the switch is off; for a 50Ω source, the -3dB point is around 210 MHz, so the part is usable well into the low RF range.
