Package and mounting
The MAX4601CWE+ is a quad normally-closed (SPST-NC) analog switch from Analog Devices (formerly Maxim Integrated) in a 16-SOIC package. Each of the four switches presents a maximum 2.5 ohm on-resistance, which keeps signal attenuation low in audio paths or precision measurement chains. The part runs on a single supply from 4.5V to 36V or dual supplies from ±4.5V to ±20V, so it fits both single-rail microcontroller systems and bipolar analog front-ends.
Switching speed and crosstalk — where the 250ns matters
Maximum turn-on time is 250ns, turn-off 350ns. Crosstalk between channels is -59dB at 1MHz.
Charge injection and leakage — the analog designer's specs
Charge injection is rated at 120pC, the amount of charge dumped onto the load when the switch opens. In a sample-and-hold or integrator circuit, that 120pC translates to a voltage glitch proportional to the hold capacitance — a 10nF cap sees roughly 12mV. Off-leakage is 500pA maximum, low enough that it won't upset a 10kΩ impedance node. Channel-to-channel on-resistance matching is 100 milliohms, so all four switch paths track closely in gain — useful for a programmable-gain amplifier where each channel needs the same attenuation.
Lifecycle and sourcing
The MAX4601CWE+ is listed as Active with ROHS3 compliance.
