Dual 4:1 mux for audio signal routing
The MAX4598EAP+ is a dual 4:1 analog multiplexer from Analog Devices, designed for routing audio signals with differential compatibility. Each of the two multiplexer sections selects one of four inputs to a common output, giving you eight total input channels managed through two independent select lines. On-state resistance is 75 Ohm max, which for audio line-level signals (typically 10 kOhm input impedance) introduces less than 1% insertion loss and keeps the THD contribution negligible. The 75 Ohm figure also means the mux can drive moderate capacitive loads without excessive settling time — useful when the output feeds a downstream ADC input stage.
Supply flexibility: single or dual rails
Runs from a single supply of 2.7 V to 12 V, or dual supplies of ±2.7 V to ±6 V. The dual-supply option lets you pass bipolar audio signals without DC-blocking caps on the signal path — the mux handles signals that swing below ground. Single-supply mode works for unipolar signals or when the system only has a positive rail available. The 20-SSOP package (0.209-inch body width, 5.30 mm) is a standard footprint that rework stations handle easily — no hot-air profile guesswork, just a fine-tip iron and flux.
