What this 8:1 multiplexer brings to the board
The MAX4558CSE+T is an 8:1 single-ended analog multiplexer from Analog Devices, built to route one of eight inputs to a common output. It handles both single-supply rails from 2V to 12V and dual supplies from ±2V to ±6V, which gives you flexibility when the board already carries ±5V or ±3V analog rails. The 160 Ohm max on-resistance is typical for a general-purpose CMOS mux of this class, and the 2 Ohm channel-to-channel matching keeps gain errors between paths tight enough for 10- to 12-bit data acquisition. Switching speed is 150ns on, 120ns off — fast enough for scanning eight thermocouple or strain-gauge channels at moderate rates without missing the sample window. The -93dB crosstalk at 100kHz tells you that a signal on one channel won't bleed noticeably into another, which matters when you're multiplexing low-level analog signals near a noisy digital bus.
Sourcing and lifecycle
The MAX4558CSE+T carries an Active lifecycle status, so there is no LTB or NRND flag to worry about. It is ROHS3 compliant.
