Quad SPST switch — single or dual supply, 100 Ohm path
The MAX4538ESE+ is a quad single-pole single-throw analog switch from Maxim Integrated, with two normally-open and two normally-closed channels in a 16-SOIC package. It runs off a single supply from 2V to 12V or dual supplies from ±2V to ±6V, making it flexible for both single-rail and split-rail designs. On-resistance is 100 Ohm maximum, with channel-to-channel matching held to 1 Ohm — tight enough for audio routing and low-frequency analog multiplexing where consistent attenuation across channels matters. The -75 dB crosstalk at 1 MHz keeps signal bleed between channels low for a switch in this on-resistance class.
Switching speed and charge injection
Turn-on time is 100 ns max, turn-off 50 ns max, which suits audio sample-rate switching and general-purpose analog signal routing below a few hundred kilohertz. Charge injection is rated 1 pC — low enough that you won't hear a pop in audio paths or see a glitch in precision DC sampling circuits. Off-leakage is 2 nA max, and channel capacitance is 2 pF on both source and drain sides, so the switch doesn't load the signal path much when off.
Industrial temperature range and active lifecycle
Rated for -40°C to 85°C ambient, this switch fits industrial control, outdoor telecom, and factory-floor equipment — not just office-temperature gear. The lifecycle status is Active per the manufacturer, and it's ROHS3 compliant, so no lead-free reflow concerns.
Package and mounting
Housed in a 16-SOIC narrow-body package (0.154" body width, 3.90 mm), surface-mount only. The supplier device package is also 16-SOIC, so no footprint mismatch between the generic and vendor-specific land pattern. Ships in Tube — not Tape & Reel — so factor that into your pick-and-place setup if you're running high-volume assembly; you'll need a tube feeder or a bulk-to-tape conversion step.
