Single 8:1 analog mux with -92 dB crosstalk at 1 MHz
The Maxim Integrated MAX4530EAP+ is a single-pole, 8-throw (8:1) analog multiplexer/demultiplexer in a 20-pin SSOP package. It routes one of eight analog inputs to a common output, or demultiplexes a single input to one of eight outputs. The part operates from a single 2V to 12V supply or dual ±2V to ±6V supplies, making it compatible with common analog rails (3.3V, 5V, ±5V) without an extra regulator. Typical applications include data-acquisition systems, audio signal routing, ATE, and industrial sensor multiplexing where the -40°C to +85°C industrial temperature range covers factory-floor and outdoor telecom enclosures.
75 Ω on-resistance and 1 Ω channel matching
The 75 Ω maximum on-resistance sets the insertion loss for the analog path — a 75 Ω series resistance into a high-impedance load (say, 10 kΩ ADC input) creates only 0.75% attenuation, negligible for 12-bit accuracy. The 1 Ω channel-to-channel matching means the resistance varies less than 1.3% across channels, critical when the mux is used in a gain-setting resistor network or a precision divider. Switching times of 150 ns turn-on and 100 ns turn-off are fast enough for 1 MHz throughput in a sample-and-hold front-end.
Charge injection and crosstalk — signal integrity numbers
Charge injection of 1.5 pC is the glitch charge dumped onto the analog bus when the channel switches — low enough that a 10 nF hold capacitor sees only a 150 µV step, preserving 12-bit settling. Crosstalk of -92 dB at 1 MHz means less than 0.0025% of a 1 MHz signal on one channel leaks into another, adequate for 16-bit audio or multi-channel ADC scanning. Off-leakage of 1 nA max keeps the signal error below 1 µV into a 1 kΩ source, so high-impedance sensors (thermocouples, pH probes) can be multiplexed without buffer amps.
Active production — no obsolescence risk for new BOMs
The MAX4530EAP+ carries an Active lifecycle status with ROHS3 compliance. This part can be designed into new production BOMs with normal franchised-distribution lead times — no shortage-cycle hoarding needed. The + suffix indicates lead-free (RoHS) finish; the base MAX4530EAP (non-plus) is the tin-lead version, no longer preferred for new designs under RoHS exemptions.
