The Maxim Integrated MAX4518CSD+ is a single-pole, four-throw (SP4T) analog switch in a 14-SOIC surface-mount package, configured as a 4:1 multiplexer/demultiplexer. It switches one common line among four independent channels, with a maximum on-resistance of 100 Ohms and channel-to-channel matching of 4 Ohms. The part operates from a single supply of 2 V to 15 V, or dual supplies of ±2.7 V to ±8 V, and is specified over the 0°C to 70°C commercial temperature range. Typical applications include audio signal routing, data acquisition systems, and test equipment where low charge injection (5 pC max) and low leakage (100 pA max) are required.
100 Ohm on-resistance and crosstalk
The 100 Ohm maximum on-resistance sets the insertion loss and signal attenuation through the switch. The -92 dB crosstalk at 100 kHz means channel-to-channel bleed is well below the noise floor of a 16-bit ADC.
Switching speed and charge injection
Maximum turn-on and turn-off times are both 150 ns. Charge injection is 5 pC maximum.
Package and supply flexibility
The 14-SOIC (0.154", 3.90 mm width) footprint is a common industry standard, compatible with existing PCB layouts for Maxim SP4T switches in this package. Single-supply operation down to 2 V allows battery-powered designs, while dual supplies up to ±8 V give headroom for ±5 V analog rails. The part is ROHS3 compliant.
