20 Ohm on-resistance and switching speed for signal routing
The MAX4517EUK+T: The SPST normally-closed switch presents a maximum on-resistance of 20 Ohms, which sets the insertion loss in the signal path. For a 10 kOhm load, the voltage divider error is under 0.2%, acceptable for most analog multiplexing and audio routing. Switching times are 100 ns typical turn-on and 75 ns typical turn-off, so the part can handle multiplexed signals up to several megahertz before the settling time becomes the bottleneck. Charge injection is rated at 10 pC — this is the charge dumped onto the signal node when the switch opens. In a sample-and-hold front end, 10 pC into a 10 nF hold capacitor creates a 1 mV step, which sets the acquisition accuracy floor.
Supply voltage flexibility and leakage
The switch operates from a single supply of 2 V to 12 V, or from dual supplies of ±1 V to ±6 V. This covers both battery-powered 3.3 V/5 V systems and split-rail analog front ends. Off-state leakage current is a maximum of 1 nA, which keeps the signal path clean in high-impedance circuits like photodiode amplifiers or pH probe interfaces. Channel off-capacitance is 9 pF on both source and drain pins, so the bandwidth into a 50 Ohm load is roughly 350 MHz — well above the switching speed limit.
Industrial temperature range and SOT-23-5 footprint
The SOT-23-5 package (SC-74A) is a standard five-pin footprint with 0.95 mm pitch. It mounts on a two-layer board without via fan-out, and the tape-and-reel packaging (3,000 units per reel) feeds directly into pick-and-place lines.
