20 Ω on-resistance — what it means for your signal path
The Maxim Integrated MAX4514EUK+T is a single-pole single-throw normally-open (SPST-NO) analog switch in a SOT-23-5 package. With a maximum on-resistance of 20 Ω, it introduces minimal attenuation in the signal path, suitable for audio routing, gain switching, or sensor multiplexing where the series resistance does not dominate the load impedance. The switch operates from a single supply between 2 V and 12 V, covering both 3.3 V and 5 V logic systems as well as legacy 12 V rails. Switching times are 150 ns for turn-on and 100 ns for turn-off, fast enough for most low-frequency multiplexing and power sequencing tasks. Charge injection is rated at 2 pC, which is low enough to avoid noticeable glitches in sample-and-hold or audio mute circuits when the switch toggles.
Industrial temperature range and surface-mount footprint
Rated for -40°C to 85°C ambient, this switch fits industrial environments such as factory automation, outdoor telecom, and instrumentation enclosures. The SOT-23-5 footprint (SC-74A, SOT-753) is a common, easy-to-place surface-mount package that routes well on two-layer boards. Off-state leakage is a maximum of 1 nA, and channel capacitance is 14 pF on both source and drain pins, keeping the switch transparent in high-impedance circuits up to a few megahertz.
