17 kHz GBW, 18 µA supply — the trade-off for always-on sensing
The MAX4289ESA+ is a single-supply, general-purpose op-amp from Analog Devices that trades bandwidth for extreme power economy. The 18 µA supply current and rail-to-rail output make it a natural fit for battery-powered sensor front-ends — think thermocouple amplifiers, photodiode transimpedance stages, or always-on threshold detectors in portable instruments.
Industrial temperature grade and 8-SOIC footprint
The 8-SOIC package is a standard surface-mount footprint with 1.27 mm pin pitch, easily routed on a two-layer board. Input offset voltage is 200 µV max and input bias current is 5 nA — adequate for general-purpose signal conditioning where the source impedance is below 100 kΩ. The 0.006 V/µs slew rate limits the full-power bandwidth to roughly 95 Hz at 10 Vpp output; above that the output slews and distorts, so this part is not for audio or fast ADC drivers.
Active lifecycle and compliance
ROHS3 compliant, so it clears EU and UKCA regulatory gates without an exemption certificate. Supplied in tube packaging — the standard 8-SOIC tube holds 50 or 100 units depending on the factory pack.
