Current sense in a 3-32 V rail
The MAX4172ESA+ is a single-channel current sense amplifier from Analog Devices, purpose-built to measure current on supply rails from 3 V up to 32 V. The 800 kHz -3 dB bandwidth means it resolves fast load transients — useful for monitoring the output of a DC-DC converter or a power module in a 24 V industrial bus. Supply current is 800 µA, low enough to keep the sense amplifier's own draw from skewing the measurement on a battery-powered or energy-harvesting rail.
The tube delivery is typical for prototype and low-volume builds; the SOIC footprint is a standard 1.27 mm pitch, so it fits a two-layer board without fan-out issues.
