Ultra-low-power single op-amp for battery and sensor conditioning
The Maxim MAX406BCSA+ is a single general-purpose operational amplifier in an 8-SOIC surface-mount package, designed for applications where supply current is the primary constraint. Its 1 µA supply current and 8 kHz gain-bandwidth product place it squarely in the ultra-low-power segment — think battery-monitor front-ends, thermocouple amplifiers, and energy-harvesting sensor interfaces that run for years on a coin cell. The rail-to-rail output stage preserves dynamic range when the supply is as low as 2.5 V, and the 0.005 V/µs slew rate confirms this is a DC-to-slow-signal part, not a general-purpose audio or control-loop amplifier. Operating temperature is 0°C to 70°C, so it is specified for commercial and indoor industrial environments.
1 µA supply current — what it means for the BOM
The 1 µA supply current dominates quiescent load in battery-powered designs. At 2.5 V the analog front-end runs from a single Li-ion cell without a boost converter.
Active lifecycle — no LTB pressure
The MAX406BCSA+ carries an Active lifecycle status and is ROHS3 compliant.
