Triple SPDT switch with 100Ω Ron and -90dB crosstalk
The MAX4053ACSE+ from Analog Devices is a triple SPDT analog switch in a 16-SOIC package. Each of the three switches routes a common input to one of two outputs (2:1 mux/demux), with a maximum on-resistance of 100Ω.
Crosstalk is -90dB at 100kHz — that's the isolation between channels when one is active and the other is off. For a 16-bit ADC front-end sampling at 100kHz, this keeps the switched-through signal from bleeding into the adjacent channel by more than about 0.003% of full scale. Charge injection is 2pC typical. When the switch opens, that packet of charge dumps onto the sampling capacitor — for a 10nF hold cap it's a 200µV glitch. In a sample-and-hold or PGA gain-switching circuit, that glitch settles within the switch's 175ns ton / 150ns toff window. On-resistance matching between channels is 6Ω max. If you're using two channels as a differential pair, the gain error from unequal Ron is kept below 0.006% with a 10kΩ load — negligible for most precision analog paths. Supply range spans 2V to 16V single, or ±2.7V to ±8V dual. The 100Ω Ron is specified at the nominal supply — at 3.3V single the resistance rises, so budget the Ron vs V+ curve from the datasheet if running near the lower rail.
Package and temperature grade
Leakage current is 100pA max per channel when off. In a high-impedance multiplexer scanning 10MΩ sensors, that leakage contributes less than 1mV of offset — well below the noise floor of a 12-bit ADC.
