What this 8:1 CMOS multiplexer does
The Maxim Integrated MAX4051AEEE+ is a single-ended 8:1 analog multiplexer/demultiplexer in a 16-pin QSOP package. It routes one of eight analog inputs to a common output (or the reverse as a demultiplexer) with a maximum on-resistance of 100 ohms and channel-to-channel matching held to 6 ohms max. The switch topology is break-before-make, so the output never sees two inputs shorted during transition. It runs on a single supply from 2 V to 16 V, or dual supplies from ±2.7 V to ±8 V. The industrial temperature range of -40°C to +85°C suits it for factory-floor signal conditioning, data-acquisition front-ends, and telecom line cards that see outdoor enclosure temperatures. Key specs for analog signal integrity: -90 dB crosstalk at 100 kHz; 2 pC charge injection; off-leakage is 100 pA max.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
The MAX4051AEEE+ carries an Active lifecycle status and is ROHS3 compliant (lead-free).
