The MAX4040EUK+T is a single-channel general-purpose op amp from Analog Devices that draws just 14 µA of supply current while delivering a 90 kHz gain-bandwidth product. That combination makes it a natural fit for always-on sensor signal conditioning where every microamp counts — think battery-powered thermistor or photodiode front-ends that run for months on a coin cell. The rail-to-rail output stage lets the amplifier swing within millivolts of both supply rails, preserving dynamic range in low-voltage systems.
SOT-23-5 footprint — hand-solderable and layout-friendly
Housed in the SC-74A / SOT-753 package (supplier device package SOT-23-5), the MAX4040EUK+T uses a 0.95 mm pitch with visible lead tips — easily hand-soldered with a fine-tip iron or reflowed with a basic hot-air station.
The 0.04 V/µs slew rate limits the large-signal bandwidth — a 1 V peak-to-peak output step takes about 25 µs to settle. That is fine for DC or low-frequency signals (audio below a few hundred Hz, temperature, pressure), but not for fast pulse trains or audio above a few kHz. For a 10 kΩ source impedance, the bias current contributes 20 µV of offset error — negligible in most gain-of-10 circuits, but worth budgeting in high-impedance sensor front-ends (e.g., pH probes or photodiodes with >100 kΩ source).
