1.7µA comparator with built-in threshold reference
The MAX40000ANT12+T is a single general-purpose comparator from Analog Devices' nanoPower series, integrating a voltage reference on-chip so the threshold is set without an external divider network. The push-pull output drives logic inputs directly — no pull-up resistor needed on the output node, which saves a component and keeps the BOM count low in battery-powered threshold detectors. Built-in 2.5 mV hysteresis prevents output chatter when the input signal crosses the threshold slowly — the scope shows the glitch disappearing without adding external positive feedback resistors. Propagation delay is 14 µs typical, fast enough for over-voltage/under-voltage lockout and window comparators in power management loops.
Quiescent current is 1.7 µA maximum — the nanoPower label means it adds negligible drain to a battery-powered sensor node that sleeps most of the time and wakes only to check a threshold. Input bias current is 0.005 µA maximum, so high-impedance sources like thermistors or photodiode amplifiers do not see an offset from the comparator's input stage. Input offset voltage is 10 mV maximum at 3.3 V — the integrated reference's accuracy dominates the trip point error, not the comparator's own offset. Common-mode rejection is 46 dB minimum, and power-supply rejection is 60 dB minimum — in a switching-regulator environment the comparator rejects supply ripple and common-mode noise that would otherwise shift the trip point on a slow-moving signal.
