Package and mounting
At 40 Mbps the rise times are fast enough that stub lengths and termination matter. On a repair bench, if a board with this part shows marginal bit errors, the first suspect is a missing or wrong-value termination resistor, not the transceiver itself. The 50 mV receiver hysteresis gives some noise immunity, but at this speed you still want a twisted-pair cable with characteristic impedance matching the termination.
Package and temperature — legacy footprint, industrial range
The 8-pin DIP (0.300" width) is a through-hole package — not for high-density SMT boards, but still common in industrial control cards, retrofit modules, and prototyping. The -40°C to 85°C range covers factory-floor and outdoor cabinet environments, though not extended automotive or downhole.
Lifecycle and sourcing reality
That makes it a safe line item for both new builds and spares. No stock count or lead-time number is published here, but the RFQ process gives you a firm commitment.
