RS485/RS422 half-duplex transceiver, 10 Mbps
The MAX3443EASA+ is a single RS485/RS422 transceiver in an 8-SOIC package, handling one driver and one receiver on a half-duplex bus. Data rate is 10 Mbps — fast enough for a multi-drop sensor network polling at sub-millisecond intervals, but the cable length must be derated from the standard 1200 m at 100 kbps down to roughly 100 m at this speed to keep reflections below the 25 mV receiver hysteresis threshold.
Supply rail and temperature envelope
If your backplane bus is 3.3 V, this part needs a local 5 V regulator; the 25 mV hysteresis gives clean noise rejection on a 5 V bus with common-mode shifts up to -7 V to +12 V per RS485.
