What the 16 Mbps and supply range mean for your BOM
The MAX3397EELA+T is a single-channel, bidirectional voltage level translator from Analog Devices, built to shift logic signals between two independent supply domains. The open-drain, tri-state output with internal pull-up resistors means it auto-negotiates the high level to the respective supply — no external level-setting resistors needed for the translation itself.
Package, temperature grade, and integration
Housed in an 8-WFDFN (2x2 mm) package, the MAX3397EELA+T takes minimal board area — the 0.5 mm pitch and exposed thermal pad demand a clean stencil aperture and proper solder paste volume for reliable reflow. Power supply decoupling and thermal-shutdown protection are integrated on-chip, reducing external component count. The decoupling network inside the die handles the high-frequency switching edges at 16 Mbps, but you still want 0.1 µF ceramics near each supply pin on the board — the internal decap is good for the die, not the PCB trace inductance.
It is fully ROHS3 compliant, so it passes the EU RoHS directive without exemptions. No official second-source or pin-compatible alternative is published by ADI; the part is sole-sourced from Analog Devices.
