Product details

Bidirectional level translation up to 6 Mbps

The MAX3395EETC+ is a single-circuit, 4-channel bidirectional voltage level translator from Analog Devices, handling data rates up to 6 Mbps across a wide supply range: 1.2 V to 5.5 V on the A side and 1.65 V to 5.5 V on the B side. Auto-direction sensing eliminates the direction-control pin — the translator detects the data flow on each channel independently, which simplifies firmware and saves a GPIO on the host controller. Output type is configurable as open-drain, push-pull, or tri-state, so the same part works with I²C (open-drain pull-up) or SPI (push-pull) without adding external buffers.

Package, temperature grade, and layout

Power supply decoupling is integrated on-chip — place a 0.1 µF ceramic near each supply pin, but the internal decoupling reduces the external capacitor count compared to older level-shifter designs.

Frequently asked questions

What is the MAX3395EETC+ data rate and does it support I²C?

The MAX3395EETC+ handles up to 6 Mbps, which covers standard I²C (100 kHz/400 kHz) and fast-mode plus (1 MHz) with margin. The open-drain output option and auto-direction sensing make it a natural fit for I²C bus translation.
