Product details

6 Mbps bidirectional level translation with auto-direction sensing

The MAX3394EETA+T from Analog Devices is a single-circuit, two-channel bidirectional voltage level translator rated for 6 Mbps data rates. The auto-direction sensing feature eliminates the need for a dedicated direction-control pin — the part determines the direction of data flow from the bus state itself, saving one GPIO on the host controller and simplifying the board trace routing. Both supply rails accept 1.2 V to 5.5 V on VCCA and 1.65 V to 5.5 V on VCCB, covering the common logic families from 1.8 V LVCMOS through legacy 5 V TTL. The output stage is configurable as open-drain (for wired-OR or I²C-style buses), push-pull (for higher edge rates), or tri-state (for shared bus isolation).

Package and thermal design — exposed pad must be soldered

Housed in an 8-WDFN with exposed pad (supplier package 8-TDFN, 3x3 mm), the part requires the thermal pad to be soldered to the PCB ground plane for both electrical ground reference and heat dissipation. Surface-mount mounting is the only supported option — no through-hole variant exists.

Frequently asked questions

What supply voltages does MAX3394EETA+T support?

VCCA accepts 1.2 V to 5.5 V; VCCB accepts 1.65 V to 5.5 V.

What output types are available on MAX3394EETA+T?

The translator supports open-drain, push-pull, and tri-state output configurations. Open-drain suits wired-OR buses like I²C; push-pull delivers faster edge rates for SPI or UART.
