What this level translator does
The Analog Devices MAX3377EEUD+T is a bidirectional voltage-level translator that bridges two supply domains without an external direction-control signal. It handles data rates up to 16 Mbps across four channels, making it a straightforward pick for mixed-voltage SPI, UART, or GPIO interfaces where one side runs as low as 1.2 V and the other up to 5.5 V. VCCA accepts 1.2 V to 5.5 V; VCCB accepts 1.65 V to 5.5 V. Open-drain outputs with internal pull-up current sources work with open-drain buses like I²C without external resistors. On-chip power-supply decoupling and thermal-shutdown protection are integrated, so external decap placement is still recommended but the basic protection is built in.
16 Mbps — what that means for bus timing
At 16 Mbps, this translator keeps up with SPI, UART, and I²C Fast-mode Plus buses. Propagation delay is consistent enough that bus clock derating is minimal.
Package and footprint
Housed in a 14-TSSOP package (0.173" body width, 4.40 mm), surface-mount only. The tape-and-reel suffix (T) means it ships on a reel for pick-and-place.
