RS-485 bus interface in a compact SOT-23-8
The MAX3362EKA+T is a half-duplex RS-485/RS-422 transceiver from Analog Devices, packing one driver and one receiver into an 8-pin SOT-23 package. It handles data rates up to 20 Mbps, making it suitable for high-speed industrial fieldbus links where the bus turnaround time and propagation delay must fit within the bit period.
Supply rail and noise margin for industrial lines
The 50 mV of receiver hysteresis filters out noise on long cable runs; on a 100-meter RS-485 bus, that margin prevents the receiver from toggling on reflections or common-mode shifts.
Package and board-fit for space-constrained designs
The SOT-23-8 package (supplier device package SOT-23-8) occupies roughly 3 mm × 3 mm of board area. The 0.65 mm pin pitch routes out on a two-layer board without micro-vias; the centre pad is not an exposed thermal pad, so the part relies on the copper trace area for heat spreading. Surface-mount assembly follows standard reflow profiles for SOT-23.
