RS232 link at 460 Kbps on a 3V rail
The MAX3319ECAE+ is a single-channel RS232 transceiver running at 460 Kbps in full-duplex mode — enough for legacy serial peripherals, debug consoles, and industrial sensor links that still speak RS232 levels. With one driver and one receiver, it serves a single TX/RX pair; the 300 mV receiver hysteresis filters noise on longer cable runs without external schmitt triggers.
16-SSOP package — rework and board-fit
Housed in a 16-SSOP (0.209-inch body width, 5.30 mm), the gull-wing leads are visible and hand-solderable — no hidden joints, no X-ray inspection needed after reflow. Surface-mount only; the 1.27 mm pitch gives decent trace escape on a two-layer board, though a ground plane under the package helps with supply decoupling at 460 Kbps edge rates.
Active lifecycle and compliance
Commercial temperature grade (0°C to 70°C) limits it to indoor, conditioned environments — not for outdoor or under-hood deployment without active thermal management.
