RS-232 transceiver, 2/2, 460 kbps, 2.25 V to 3 V rail
It targets low-voltage serial links where the supply rail is constrained to 2.25 V to 3 V, typical in battery-powered terminals, handheld instruments, or compact industrial interfaces. Data rate is rated at 460 kbps, sufficient for high-speed UART communication in debug ports, configuration terminals, or sensor bridges.
Supply range and temperature grade — board-level fit
Operating from 2.25 V to 3 V, the MAX3316ECAE+ does not tolerate 3.3 V or 5 V rails directly. A 3.3 V supply exceeds the absolute maximum, so a local LDO or regulator is required if the board runs higher voltages.
