RS-232 interface with 3/5 driver/receiver count
The MAX3243EAI+T is a full-duplex RS-232 transceiver from Analog Devices, packing three drivers and five receivers into a single 28-SSOP package. The 300 mV receiver hysteresis provides noise immunity on the serial line, which matters when the cable runs past switching supplies or motor drives in an industrial panel.
With a 3V to 5.5V supply range, this transceiver works from a 3.3V MCU rail directly, no level translator needed between the UART and the RS-232 bus. The 28-SSOP package (0.209-inch body width, 5.30 mm) fits a fine-pitch layout; the surface-mount footprint keeps the board two-layer routable for low-cost designs.
