RS232 transceiver with 250 kbps and full-duplex 2/2
The MAX3224ECAP+T: It handles serial communication at 250 kbps, which covers the standard RS232 baud rates up to 115200 and beyond for legacy industrial terminals, POS systems, and instrumentation ports.
Receiver hysteresis and noise margin on long cables
500 mV of receiver hysteresis means the input threshold has a built-in dead band that rejects noise coupled onto the RS232 cable — a common issue when the cable runs past a motor drive or switching supply. The hysteresis prevents the receiver from toggling on induced ripple, so the UART sees clean edges down to the bit period of 4 µs at 250 kbps. For extended temperature ranges, check the industrial-grade variants in the same family.
SSOP-20 footprint and tape-and-reel feed
The supplier device package is also 20-SSOP, so the land pattern is consistent across sourcing lots. Supplied in tape and reel (cut tape also available), the part is feeder-ready for high-speed pick-and-place. No MSL bake required for standard reflow profiles — the package is compatible with lead-free solder processes per the RoHS3 compliance.
