Single RS232 receiver in SOT-23-5
The MAX3180EUK+T is a single RS232 receiver from Analog Devices, converting RS232-level signals to logic-level outputs. With a data rate of 1.5Mbps and 300mV of hysteresis, it handles standard asynchronous serial communication up to typical UART speeds without missing edges on noisy lines. The single receiver channel (0 drivers, 1 receiver) is the right fit for a unidirectional RS232 receive path — common in industrial sensor interfaces or debug ports where only one direction needs level conversion.
The 300 mV hysteresis cleans up slow or noisy RS232 edges — a common issue when a cable runs several metres through a noisy electrical cabinet. Without that hysteresis, a marginal signal could cause multiple logic transitions per bit, corrupting the UART frame.
