8:1 multiplexer with 100 Ohm Ron and 150 ns switching
The MAX308CSE+ is a single 8:1 CMOS analog multiplexer from Analog Devices, routing one of eight analog inputs to a common output. The 100 Ohm max on-state resistance sets the series attenuation floor — into a 10 kOhm load the voltage drop is under 1%, negligible for most signal-chain budgets. Switch times are 150 ns typical for both turn-on and turn-off, giving a 3.3 MHz theoretical switching ceiling. For a multiplexed ADC front-end scanning eight channels at 100 kHz each, the settling window is well within the 150 ns transition.
Supply flexibility and signal integrity
The dual-supply mode lets the switch handle bipolar signals up to the rail swing — a ±15 V supply passes a ±10 V input without clipping. Channel-to-channel crosstalk is -92 dB at 100 kHz, meaning less than 0.0025% of a signal on one channel leaks into an adjacent off-channel. Charge injection is 2 pC typical — the glitch injected into a 10 nF sample-hold capacitor is 0.2 mV, below the LSB of a 12-bit ADC with a 5 V reference. Off-channel leakage current is 750 pA max at 25°C, rising with temperature but staying in the picoamp range for commercial-grade operation. Channel capacitance is 3 pF on the source side and 26 pF on the drain side — the larger drain capacitance loads the output bus and limits bandwidth when multiple multiplexers share a common node.
16-SOIC package and commercial temperature grade
The supplier device package is 16-SOIC; the narrow body keeps the PCB area under 30 mm² including the decoupling capacitor. For extended-temperature environments (downhole, engine bay, outdoor telecom) the industrial or military-grade siblings in the MAX308 family are the correct choice.
