10 Mbps full-duplex RS-485/422 in an SOIC-8
The Maxim Integrated MAX3087ESA+ is a single-channel, full-duplex RS-485/RS-422 transceiver in an 8-pin SOIC package. It handles data rates up to 10 Mbps, making it a fit for high-speed industrial communication links like Profibus or Modbus over twisted-pair cable. The receiver includes 100 mV of hysteresis for noise rejection on long runs, and the driver delivers the differential output levels required by the RS-485 standard.
5V supply only — check your rail
This part runs on a 4.75 V to 5.25 V supply. It is not a 3.3 V transceiver. If your board has a 3.3 V bus rail, this part will not work — you need a 3.3 V RS-485 part like the MAX3088E. The supply range is a hard boundary: undervoltage below 4.75 V and the driver output levels may not meet the RS-485 spec.
